Website vs. Instagram Page vs. WhatsApp Business: What's Actually Different?
All three feel like "being online" - so it's a reasonable question: if you already have an Instagram page and a WhatsApp Business account, why do you need a website too? The honest answer is that they're not substitutes for each other. Each one does a specific job the other two don't.
WhatsApp Business: the conversation
WhatsApp is where an actual back-and-forth happens - someone asks a question, you answer, they ask about price, you send a photo. It's fast, personal, and it's how most of your existing customers already prefer to talk to you.
What it's not good at: being found by someone who doesn't have your number yet, and holding a complete, organized picture of your business that someone can browse at their own pace.
Instagram: the story and the proof
Instagram is where people see your work - photos of what you've made, sold, or done, reviews and tags from real customers, a sense of your style and personality. It's genuinely good at building familiarity and trust over time, especially for visual businesses like food, fashion, or design.
What it's not good at: being a reliable reference. Posts get buried within days. Someone looking for your hours, address, or price list has to scroll and hope, or message you and wait for a reply.
A website: the complete, permanent picture
A website is the one place all your information sits still - services, pricing, hours, location, how to reach you - available any time, to anyone, without needing you to personally respond. It's also the only one of the three that Google actually indexes well, which is what lets a stranger searching for what you do find you in the first place.
What it's not good at: replacing the personal conversation. Nobody wants to fill out a contact form when they could just message you directly - which is exactly why your website's whole job is to get them to that WhatsApp chat, not to replace it.
How they actually work together
A typical path looks like this: someone searches Google and lands on your website, gets the basic picture and decides you look legitimate, clicks through to your Instagram to see real photos of your work, then taps your WhatsApp button to actually ask a question and book. Each step does something the others can't - the website earns the first impression, Instagram builds the trust, WhatsApp closes the conversation.
Skip the website, and a lot of people never get past step one - because they never found you to begin with.
If you've got WhatsApp and Instagram running already, a website isn't starting over - it's the piece that connects them to people who don't know you yet. See what a basic setup costs, or ask us on WhatsApp if you want a quick opinion on your specific situation.
